Biography: Dr. Rajiv Mohan is the Ruth M. Kraeuchi Missouri Endowed Chair Professor of Ophthalmology and Molecular Medicine in the School of Medicine and College of Veterinary Medicine University of Missouri, Columbia. He is also a Health Research Scientist in the Harry S. Truman Veterans’ Memorial Hospital Columbia, Missouri. His research focus in four areas: corneal gene therapy, nanomedicine, wound healing, and refractive laser surgery. Dr. Mohan’s lab has developed several novel disease models and established tissue-targeted nanomedicine and AAV-based gene therapy approaches for corneal diseases using rodent, rabbit and/or dog models. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, 9 book chapters, more than 300 abstracts as well as won numerous prestigious international awards including the “Newest and Most Innovative Research Award” from the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (world’s largest eye society), Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman from India, Zoetis Award for Research Excellence from Pfizer etc. Dr. Mohan serves in many NIH Study Sections, Editorial Board of international journals, Advisory Boards of Eye Hospitals, and committees of international eye research societies.
